Kramlofsky, Jürgen A.
Jürgen A. Kramlofsky
Born and raised in the Southern Germany, Jürgen A. Kramlofsky began playing guitar at the age of 10 and immediately started composing his first little pieces on this instrument. Just briefly after this, he was exposed to the music of Ravel and Smetana for the first time and told himself, 'I want to be able to create something like this later in my life'. Still, the guitar remained his primary instrument, even as he became talented in many stringed instruments and a variety of guitar styles, from classical picking to rock guitar to banjo and mandolin.
In the 1990's, he was fortunate enough to travel to Los Angeles to study Guitar, Arrangement and Composition at the LA Grove School of Music with Adam Levine, Joel DiBartolo, Terry Janow, Jay Daversa and of course Dick Grove himself. Although these studies were definitely much more in the Jazz field, they did not replace, but rather added to, his love for orchestral classical music and inspired him to create music combining Jazz and Classical. After finishing his studies there, achieving the honor of magna cum laude, he returned to Germany to continue studying Film Composing and Sound-Design at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
Since then, he has been working as a composer and/or sound designer on many television and movie productions in Germany. When he is not doing that he’s an avid performer and has recorded a handful of albums featuring original music that has been played on the radio and showcased on live TV. That still leaves time for composing full orchestral works, sometimes at the request of Hollywood's greatest film score musicians. He also leads the All About Jazz big band, for which he also writes and arranges.
