Daniel Bukin (b. 1993)

Daniel Bukin (ASCAP) is a composer, conductor, pianist, and music educator currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His works have been featured in concerts across the country and premiered by such groups as loadbang, the Seattle Pacific University Chamber Orchestra, the Port Angeles High School Chamber Orchestra, and the University of New Mexico Saxophone Ensemble. His arrangements, many of which highlight works by composers of under-represented groups inclassical music, have been performed by such ensembles as the 2022 North Carolina All-State Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and the Asheville Symphony Orchestra. Many of his works are published by T.U.X. People’s Music and ALRY Publications.

Daniel’s conducting highlights include three years with the Triad Area Medical Orchestra: first as assistant conductor before stepping up as full-time music director, music director and conductor for the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) Acting Out! drama program, two seasons as Assistant Conductor for the UNCSA’s production of The Nutcracker, serving as Assistant Conductor for the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute’s production of Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas and Gioachino Rossini’s La Cenerentola, and serving as Conducting Fellow with the Winston-Salem Symphony.

Daniel is an active educator in both Moriarty-Edgewood School District and  Albuquerque Public Schools working as a piano teacher at Moriarty High School, choir teacher at Moriarty Middle School, and as a guest clinician throughout Albuquerque Public Schools. He is also an alumni member of ArtistCorps – ArtsEngage.
Daniel graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Theory/Composition as a student of Dr. Scott Meister and Dr. Ben Hjertmann. Daniel also graduated from UNCSA in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting, studying under Christopher James Lees. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Education at the University of New Mexico.

Daniel has served as assistant and/or cover conductor to Christopher James Lees, Leif Bjaland, Chris Allen, Brian Cole, Antony Walker, and Jessica Morel. Other conducting mentors include Eric Rombach-Kendall, Robert Franz, Jessica Morel, Mark Norman, Charles Gambetta, Ovidiu Balan, Larry Rachleff, Chris Kim, and Octavio Más-Arocas.
