Leonardo Vinci - Sonata in D Major for Flute and Piano, revised and edited by Ervin Monroe. Leonard Vinci (1960–1730) was an Italian composer born in Strongoli in 1690. He entered the Naples conservatory and within three years was on full scholarship as a student teacher. Vinci is considered to be one of the originators of the Neapolitan style of opera writing and he composed about forty operas in his lifetime. He also composed oratorios, masses, and motets, as well as some chamber pieces and flute sonatas, of which this Sonata in D Major is the most popular.
