Elfentanz by Oskar Bolck, arranged for Flute Trio by Cathi Marro. This Elfentanz, Op. 2 by Oskar Bolck is a light, virtuoso capriccio originally composed for three violins. Composed early in his career, it reflects mid-19th-century Romantic taste for character pieces. The music is quick and playful, using agile passagework and bright textures to evoke the fluttering motion of dancing elves. Here, the piece has been transposed and adapted so that it can be played by three flutes.
