Arturo Rodriguez (b. 1985)

Arturo Rodriguez is a Chicano flutist, composer, recording artist, and flute teacher  based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Arturo has performed in a variety of concert halls such as The Fillmore, Paramount Theater, and the Sydney Opera House. Arturo has studied with Gail Edwards, Maria Tamburrino, and Mathew Krejci. He has participated in masterclasses led by Jennifer Olson, Viviana Guzman, Monica Anthony, Ray Furuta, and Valerie Coleman. Arturo performs around the bay area with various orchestras and chamber ensembles.

He has also performed with a variety of musical ensembles across the bay area. His talents were included in various Undercover Presents events and albums including Tribute to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club and Green Day's Dookie. He has also performed with artists such as The Dear Hunter, Diana Gameros, and Palette Swap Ninja.

His compositions include a 9-movement symphonic requiem called Requiem Sinfonica, his First Symphony which was written in the style of Beethoven and Haydn, and his collection of divertimenti for chamber orchestra. Arturo has also written for the flute choir including his recently premiered Iridescent Fanfare written for the LGBTQ+ Flute Choir at the National Flute Association Convention in Chicago in 2022. His arrangement of Jules Mouquet’s Pan et les Oiseaux was premiered by the Etesian Duo in 2016 for two C flutes and harp. During the pandemic, he premiered his Metamorphosis Suite for Solo C Flute, Piccolo, and Alto Flute. It was premiered and recorded by flutist Chaz Salazar. He has also arranged music for the artist known as Onikho and continues to compose works for Flute Duos, Quartets, Quintets, and many other ensemble types.

He performs with his flute duo called the Etesian Duo with fellow co-founder, Alan Berquist, and also performs regularly as a member of Ensemble 126. Arturo currently serves as flute faculty with the Young Musicians Choral Orchestra in Berkeley and a Flute Ambassador with the Awesöme Orchestra Collective led by David Möschler.
