John W.N. Palmer

John W.N. Palmer is a Canadian composer, arranger and bass trombonist who originates from Orillia, Ontario. He is a graduate of Queen’s University and has remained in Eastern Ontario. He taught music in the public schools of Brockville and Kingston, directing music for local theatre, playing in the Kingston Symphony and the Greg Runions Big Band. He is conductor of Orchestra Kingston, he taught annually at National Music Camp and was a founding member of BrassWerks and the Kingston Symphony Brass Quintet for whom he wrote and arranged a large part of their repertoire. His compositions have also been performed by the Kingston Symphony, the Mississauga Symphony, BrassWerks, the Orillia Concert Band and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He has won the Humboldt State University (California) Brass Workshop Competition many times and is also an Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Centre.
