Max Meyer-Olbersleben - Fantasie-Sonate, Op. 17 for Flute and Piano, revised and edited by Ervin Monroe. Max Meyer-Olbersleben (1850–1927), a German composer and pianist, was born in Olbersleben and spent much of his career as professor of counterpoint and composition at the Bavarian State Conservatory of Music. The Fantasie-Sonate is a powerful and moving work, composed in 1883 and one of only a few top-echelon works for flute and piano from the Romantic period. In three movements: LebhaftIn gehender Bewegung (Ständchen), and Ziemlich rasch und wild (Bacchanale).
