Airs Valaques, Op. 10, first published in 1858, is a virtuosic fantasy based on Wallachian (Romanian) melodies, featuring an expressive theme, variations, a lyrical Adagio, and a spirited Allegro. The work remains one of Doppler’s most admired showpieces, demanding considerable technical skill while offering the flutist ample opportunity for colorful, dramatic, and lyrical expression.
