Can be performed by 12 B-flat Clarinets and 4 Bass Clarinets, with the possibility of substituting auxiliary clarinets as indicated in the list of instrumentation. Additionally, an optional organ part is provided. Antonio Caldara was an Italian composer of the Baroque era. He was born in Venice and spent most of his life working in various musical positions throughout Italy, including as a composer and musician in the courts of Mantua, Rome, and Vienna. Caldara is perhaps best known for his vocal music, particularly his operas and oratorios. He also composed instrumental music, including sonatas and chamber music. He was particularly known for his use of counterpoint, a technique in which multiple melodic lines are played or sung simultaneously, and for his expressive use of harmony.
