Shannon Heaton

As the daughter of traveling academics and later as a touring musician with duo Matt & Shannon Heaton, Shannon Heaton has lived and performed on four continents. She learned Irish flute mainly in Chicago, with regular trips to Ireland and her adopted home of Boston. She also holds a flute performance degree from Northwestern University.

A prolific composer and arranger of Irish music, Shannon is dedicated to sharing the essence of traditional music across genre lines. Her repertoire of full-hearted original pieces for classical winds, strings, and piano feature traditional-style melodies that also celebrate the existing strengths and expressive artistry of classical players.
