Western Winds, Eastern Roots by Cynthia Folio for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano. Commissioned by the Tiger Lily Trio and premiered at the 2023 Annual Conventions of the International Clarinet Association in Denver, Colorado, and the National Flute Association in Phoenix, Arizona.

From the composer: "The musical language of the piece was inspired by my recent experience as the flutist in a group called David’s Harp. We performed a variety of traditional songs from the Middle East and the Jewish diaspora, during which time I was introduced to and fell in love with a wealth of repertoire, scales, rhythms, ornamentation, and improvisational techniques from many different traditions. For me, this piece is a merging of “east meets west”—thus the title.
