Franz von Vecsey (1893—1935) was a Hungarian violinist and composer, quite well-known throughout Europe despite his rather short life. Most notably, the Violin Concerto of Jean Sibelius was dedicated to him at the age of 12 following a sequence of unfortunate events surrounding the multiple premieres of different versions of it. As a composer, von Vecsey was most well-known for composing virtuosic salon pieces for the violin, and thus, two of them which make a rather complimentary pair are arranged here as a set of Fantasy Pieces for alto flute and piano: Valse Triste and Humoresque.
