Eugene Magalif (b. 1957)
Award winning American composer Eugene Magalif (b. 1957, Vitebsk, Belarus) is the author of the music in many different genres. His compositions have been performed and recorded by famous soloists and orchestras in more than 60 countries and are featured on TV and radio in Europe and in the United States.
Magalif’s music has been performed at different festivals and in many prestigious concert halls, including: Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Lobero Theatre (USA), Rachmaninoff Concert Hall (Russia), Görlitz Theater (Germany), State Philharmonic Hall (Belarus), Baltazar Dias Theatre (Portugal), Odeon Theater (Austria). His music has also been performed in Winter Concerts at the White House for multiple years.
In 2016, Magalif was a guest composer at Sir James Galway Flute Festival in Switzerland. Collaboration with Galway led the music of Magalif to introduce a new series “James Galway presents” published by KEISER SOUTHERN Music (USA). Three works by Magalif opened this series and were presented at 2017 National Flute Association (NFA) convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In 2016, a CD album, Colibri, with the symphonic music of the composer was recorded by musicians from five different countries. The album, named after composer’s most known work for Flute and Orchestra, received three medals at the GLOBAL MUSIC Awards, San Diego, USA. In October 2016, the Concerto for Flute won in the Modern Instrumental Music category at the AKADEMIA Music Awards, Los Angeles, USA. In 2018, the Flute Concerto was named a winner of the NFA’s 2018 Newly Published Music competition. The same year, an International Competition for the best performance of the Flute Concerto was successfully held, bringing together contestants from 11 countries.
Author’s concerts have taken place in Varna (Bulgaria), Moscow, Chita, Saransk (Russia), Dnepr (Ukraine, twice) and Washington D.C.
ALRY Publications (USA) and FORTON Music (Great Britain) have published the music of Magalif since 2013; KEISER SOUTHERN Music and HAL LEONARD (USA) have published his music since 2017.
