Martin Watt - O Sacrum Convivium for Clarinet Choir. Martin Watt was born in Standerton in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa in 1970. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the North-West University in Potchefstroom, a Master's degree from the University of Cape Town, and a Doctorate from the University of Pretoria. Since 2018, he is an associate professor of music theory and composition at the South African College of Music at the University of Cape Town. His composition "O Sacrum Convivium" was originally composed for double choir (SSAATTBB) using the Latin text honoring the Blessed Sacrament. The harmonies lend themselves very well to the homogenous sound of the clarinet choir, thus, this version was created and premiered by the Klarinetensemble Lignum in Leiden, South Holland in May 2023.
