The Andante Festivo of Jean Sibelius was first composed in 1922 as a single-movement work for string quartet. This is the only composition of Sibelius for which there exists a live recording of him conducting and interpreting his own music. Frequently performed throughout the remainder of his life, the work was not only performed at the wedding of his niece, Riitta Sibelius, but also at his own funeral in 1957.
