Impromptu for Solo Flute by John C. Savage was commissioned by the National Flute Association for the 2009 High School Soloist Competition. From the composer: "As the title suggests, Impromptu for Solo Flute should give the effect of an improvisation. Performers might imagine that they are improvising in the compositional styles of composers such as Edgard Varèse, Tōru Takemitsu, Robert Muczynski, André Jolivet or Robert Dick." Please Note: Impromptu for Solo Flute requires an open-holed flute with a low B foot.
