Carl Reinecke - Ballade, Op. 288 for Flute and Piano, edited by Ervin Monroe. Carl Reinecke (1824–1910) was a German composer, pianist, conductor, and teacher who served as director of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra for 35 years and taught many influential musicians, including Grieg, Bruch, and Janáček. His Ballade for Flute and Orchestra, Op. 288, was one of his final works and was published posthumously in 1911.  Written in a lyrical, late-Romantic style, the approximately nine-minute work combines expressive flute writing with a richly colored orchestral accompaniment, presented here in a reduction for flute and piano, edited by Ervin Monroe.
