For One On the Verge of Soaring: A Performance Ritual for Low Flutes by Gay Kahkonen for Low Flute Choir. Composed for and premiered by the Lower Michigan Low Flute Ensemble under the direction of Deborah Rebeck Ash on August 8, 2026 at the National Flute Association Convention in Portland, Oregon. From the composer: "For One On the Verge of Soaring is a ritual send-off for a person who is on the brink of a new life. It follows a series of steps to support and encourage the "One" in making this transition."
