Though most clarinetists are more than familiar with Holst’s two suites for military band, his St. Paul’s Suite should not be overlooked. In fact, it was composed shortly after he completed the Second Suite in F and is considered the most famous piece he composed while working at the St. Paul’s Girls School from 1905-34.
