Peppermints, Shepherds' Crooks, and Red Spirals from 'Candy Cane Suite,' for flute choir, by Nancy Nourse. Commissioned by Nancy Spidel and the Colorado Flute Orchestra, this suite chronicles the historical development of the candy cane from Cologne Cathedral in the seventeenth century. With a pastoral bass flute melody in 5/8 time, this programmatic movement will sweeten up any Christmas time programme.  A challenging yet tuneful work with interest in all parts.
