The Sweetness of Time Together for Flute Choir by Catherine McMichael. From the composer: "50 years of continuous music making…that's where the title comes from: The Sweetness of Time Together. It's on the gentle side, although there is a lively middle section. Mary Anderson was my friend for many, many years, and I kept her sunny presence in front of me as I wrote this. I hope her radiant personality comes through in this piece. The Delta Flute Choir was founded in 1974 by Mary H. Anderson, a Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra flutist for 50 years and an adjunct professor at Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University. I was commissioned to write a piece for their 25th anniversary and Silver Celebration was the result. The group felt it only right to ask me to write their 50th anniversary piece as well. They are currently led by Anne Livingston and continue to perform at community events throughout the Saginaw Bay region."
