Holst (arr. Johnston) - Jupiter from The Planets for Flute Choir - MEG
Jupiter, The Bringer of Jollity from The Planets, Op.32 by Gustav Holst, arranged for Flute Choir by Matt Johnston. Gustav Holst’s Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity is the fourth movement of The Planets, Op. 32, composed between 1914 and 1916. The movement is characterized by its exuberant rhythms, expansive melodies, and richly varied orchestration, capturing both the joviality associated with Jupiter and moments of noble grandeur. Its central hymn-like melody, broad and warmly expressive, has become one of Holst’s most recognizable melodies and was later adapted as the patriotic hymn “I Vow to Thee, My Country.” Jupiter remains one of the most frequently performed and beloved movements from The Planets, celebrated for its infectious energy and sweeping melodic appeal!
