Mendelssohn (arr. Johnston) - Sonata No. 6 in D Minor for Clarinet Cho
Arranged for Clarinet Fusion: a San Francisco/Bay Area clarinet choir under the direction of Dr. Lawrence E. Anderson. This work has always been a favorite of the arranger, however, being a fairly difficult work, it seemed it would be easier to play if it was divided up into 10 parts, rather than one person having to play them all. A haunting Chorale and Variations leads to a Fugue using the same motif. For such a heavy and brooding piece in the first two movements, the Finale is beautifully calm.
