Wells - "TAG!" for Flute Choir - FC514
“TAG!” by David L. Wells, for flute choir, is a programmatic work depicting children at school watching the clock (tic…toc…), waiting for recess, the school bell ringing, children running out to play, choosing tag, calling “Not it!”, taunting the one who is “it” (nya, nya, nya,…), chasing each other in musical rounds, each theme representing a new set of chasers, catching a breath (“Whew!”), chasing some more, bell ringing, running back in, all the themes returning two measures at a time, tic toc resuming, and waiting for their next chance to play again.
