Centuria exhibits all of the factors which have made James Swearingen such a popular composer of original works for band, such as intelligent, idiomatic writing for each instrument, great playability, singable themes, rhythmic vitality, interesting percussion parts and, in short, an uncanny understanding of the school concert band and student musicians.
