Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was born in Salzburg, Austria, the son of a successful musician and composer. His father took great pride in his son, who began performing and composing as a young child. The Concerto in D Major for flute and strings was written around 1777, for a Dutch flutist named Ferdinand Dejean from whom he received a commission to write some quartets and concerti for flute. it is composed in three movements: Allegro aperto, Andante ma non troppo, and Allegro.
