Monroe - Greensleeves for Flute Choir - FE-T8
Greensleeves for Flute Choir, arranged by Ervin Monroe. From the arranger: "The melody Greensleeves is one of the oldest folksongs that we sing and perform today. This set of variations was inspired by a work for recorder written around the 1600s. This piece is composed 'to a ground,' which was a technique used by composers in teh 1600s of writing musical variations over a baseline and/or harmonic passage that was repeated over and over throughout the work. In 1993, I arranged and published a version of this ancient work utilizing an additional solo line as well as new variations, and this new version for flute choir uses ideas from that 1993 arrangement."
