Brian Boru's March, arranged for Flute Quartet (or Flute Choir) by Ervin Monroe. Brian Boru’s March is a traditional Irish march named for Brian Boru (c. 941–1014), the High King of Ireland who is remembered for his victory over Viking forces at the Battle of Clontarf in 1014. The tune is generally associated with the nineteenth-century Irish nationalist tradition and has become one of the best-known pieces of Irish traditional military and ceremonial music. Its stately melody and strong rhythmic character have made it popular in arrangements for wind bands, orchestras, and various chamber ensembles. The march continues to evoke Ireland’s medieval history and the enduring cultural legacy of Brian Boru.

This arrangement can be played by four or more C flutes using solely the C flute parts provided, or by a flute choir simply by adding any or all of the additional parts.
