Gliere (arr. Monroe) - Melodie, Op. 35, No. 1 for Flute Choir - FE-G7
Reinhold Glière - Mélodie, Op. 35, No. 1 for Flute Choir, arranged by Ervin Monroe. Ukrainian composer Reinhold Glière (1875-1956) is best known for his ballet score The Red Poppy. His compositions include elements of the folk music of Russia, Ukraine, and surrounding republics. Glière wrote for varying instrumentations, from string quartet to symphony orchestra, from solo piano to solo voice. He devoted his entire Opus 35 to solo works for woodwinds and brass. The Mélodie from that Opus is a showcase of Glière’s non-traditional use of harmony and it has been arranged here for flute choir by Ervin Monroe.
