Musical Vistas by Cynthia Folio for Flute and Guitar. Musical Vistas was commissioned by the Howard Hanson Institute for American Music in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Eastman School of Music. From the composer: "The titles for the three movements reflect my attempt to look back at music from other cultures and my experience in performing with several improvisatory groups. “Sephardic Scene” reflects my experience playing in David’s Harp, which performed various styles of music from the Middle East. “Saudade do Passado” (“longing for the past”) is a sentimental look at my experience as a musician. “Choro Brilhante” (“virtuosic choro”) is based on the Brazilian choro rhythm and style.
