Gabriel Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Op. 11, is one of his most beloved early works, composed in 1864–65 when he was just 19 years old. It is a choral piece set to a French text by the playwright Jean Racine, specifically a paraphrase of a Latin hymn from the Christian liturgy, Consors paterni luminis (usually sung at Matins). This arrangement for clarinet choir can be performed in two ways, either entirely by clarinets, or in combination with a mixed SATB choir. 

Instrumentation:

• The "chorus" is made up of Clarinet 1, Clarinet 2, Clarinet 3/Alto Clarinet/Basset Horn, and Bass Clarinet. If desired, a mixed SATB choir can be used in lieu of these clarinet parts
• 4 Clarinets
• Alto Clarinet/Basset Horn/Clarinet 5
• Bass Clarinet
• Contrabass Clarinet/Contralto Clarinet/String Bass

• E-flat Clarinet (an optional part is provided but not notated in the score)
