Franz Doppler (1821–1883) was a celebrated Hungarian-Austrian flute virtuoso and composer whose music combines brilliant flute writing with the melodic character of Central and Eastern European folk traditions. The Three Salon Pieces are as follows: Berceuse (Op. 15), Mazurka de Salon (Op. 16), and Nocturne (Op. 17).
