Though a professional cellist, Franz Danzi's lasting legacy in the classical music world is the large number of wind quintets he composed during his lifetime. Among his other compositions is this charming piece for solo clarinet and chamber orchestra, the Potpourri No. 2 on 'Là ci darem la mano'. Originally composed with parts for winds and strings, here it has been arranged for solo clarinet and chamber ensemble by Matt Johnston. It was first performed at the 2023 Annual Convention of the International Clarinet Association in Denver, Colorado, and consists of an Introduction, Theme, three Variations, and Polacca.
