Cecile Chaminade was the first female composer to win the Ordre national de la Legion d'honneur, the highest decoration in France. These Three Pieces were originally written for solo piano between 1890 and 1907. Quite difficult to perform on the piano, they lend themselves very well to this arrangement for two flutes and piano by Dana H. Joras. In addition to making an excellent suite, each of the pieces works just as well on its own. In three movements: LolitaConte Bleu, and Quatrième Valse.
