Jiří Čart - Six Sonatas for Flute and Continuo, edited by Dennette Derby McDermott. From the editor: "Czech-born composer Jiří Čart received his musical training in Vienna, where he studied composition, violin, and flute. In 1734, he followed the violinist František Benda to the court of Prince Frederick at Ruppin, later Frederick the Great of Prussia. Čart remained in Frederick’s service for more than two decades, accompanying the court and its celebrated orchestra as it moved first to Rheinsberg and eventually to Berlin. The ensemble became one of Europe’s foremost musical establishments, distinguished by the presence of such prominent musicians as Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Johann Joachim Quantz. Despite his association with this important musical circle, only a small portion of Čart’s compositions has survived. The present volume represents the first complete edition of these surviving works."

Included are Sonatas in G Major, D Major, D Minor, G Major, E Major and E Minor. Flute and basso continuo parts are included.
