Wilhelm Popp (1828-1903) was a German flutist, pianist, and composer whose career was closely associated with the flourishing flute culture of nineteenth-century Germany.  He composed nearly six hundred works, the majority featuring the flute, ranging from lyrical salon pieces and imaginative fantasies to technically demanding concert works and pedagogical music.
