Code Talking for Flute and English Horn/Oboe d'amore by Linthicum-Blackhorse. From the composer: "Code talking is using a little-known language as a means of secret communication. In 20th century war history, there were men that were drafted by the US military in the Great World Wars who could speak both English and their “Native American Indian” tribal languages; these men used telegraphs for sensitive communications on the battlefield and were called Code Talkers. The most famous and well known of the numerous tribes involved were the Choctaw Code Talkers (WWI) and the Navajo Code Talkers (WWII). The deciphers for small portions of these code talking programs have been declassified, but the US military still has absolute secrecy on much of the code talking records because of their effectiveness in the Great World Wars."
