Owens - The New Jerusalem for Voice, Flute, and Piano - FP47
The New Jerusalem by Stephen Owens for Voice, Flute and Piano. The New Jerusalem was composed originally for soprano voice, flute, and piano. Any C instrument (i.e. oboe or violin) may be substituted for flute. In addition, any C instrument including flute may be substituted for the voice. The music is autobiographical and tells a story of people mired in loss and despair who persevered, survived and prospered. After the music was written, it became apparent that William Blake’s famous poem was the correct text, and his words were fit to the music.
