Suite for Flute Choir by Arthur Frackenpohl was written in 1973 for James Pellerite, professor of Music at the School of Music of Indiana University. The suite consists of five short movements with a wonderful playfulness in its variety of rhythms and mixed metres and colour combinations. The music is light and tonal in nature, uses basic forms and has metre changes in the fast movements. The Elegy contains brief references to the music of Brahms and Beethoven. The movements are entitled: IntradaBalladWaltzElegy, and Finale.
