Paul Chatrou (b. 1959)

Paul Chatrou, born in the Netherlands, studied piano and composition in Utrecht. He played in various ensembles for which he also composed music. He is teaching the piano and composition both private and in various educational institutions. As a composer, he works mainly freelance. He writes both instrumental and vocal compositions in a romantic style based on classical technique.

Paul Chatrou, geboren te Swalmen (L), wonende te Helmond (N-Br.) in Nederland, kreeg zijn eerste pianolessen aan de muziekschool aldaar. Vanaf het moment dat hij les had, schreef hij zijn eigen muziek. Paul studeerde achtereenvolgens hoofdvak piano en schoolmuziek aan het Utrechts conservatorium, waar hij o.a. les kreeg van Herman Beeftink. Hij volgde compositielessen bij Dr. Mathieu Dijker. Paul was enige tijd als muziekdocent werkzaam in het middelbaar onderwijs en is thans als pianodocent verbonden aan het kunstencentrum van Helmond. Daarnaast geeft hij compositielessen en werkt in opdracht als freelance componist.
