P. Brent Register (b. 1960)
P. Brent Register is a professional composer, musician, and educator. He is Professor Emeritus at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where he taught flute, oboe and bassoon for 32 years, and performs as oboist/solo English horn with various ensembles throughout Pennsylvania.
As a composer, Brent’s works have received numerous awards and include premieres both nationally and internationally. A selection of his ALRY compositions includes Suite for Flute, Oboe, Horn, and Piano, Cigány Könnyek (Gypsy Tears) for flute (violin) and piano, to sing, sweetly, forever for soprano, alto flute, and piano, The Mirror for soprano, flute, and piano, and Four Seasons for baritone, flute, cello, and piano. Additional publications include serving as editor/arranger for Alec Templeton's Trio for flute, oboe, and piano and the folk composition, Smoky Mountain Landscapes for soprano, flute, violin, acoustic guitar, cello, and piano.
Brent is also guitarist for the Herrera-Register Duo (with flutist, Cathy Herrera) and the Camerata Amistad trio (2 flutes and piano). Several volumes of Hispanic music have been edited/arranged (Touring the Hispanic World, volumes 1-4), and several solo pieces for flute and guitar have are now available (Una cortina translúcida; Reflexiones españolas (for fl/guit and orchestra).
