Isaac Page (b. 1996)
Isaac Page is a Toronto-born composer, violist, and conductor who graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, with degrees in Music Composition and Music Theory. Isaac served as Assistant Conductor for both the Wilfrid Laurier University Wind Orchestra and the Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Orchestra, and has appeared as a conductor with the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra, Vera Causa Opera, and the Open Ears Festival. Isaac is a founding member of The Yacht Club, a Waterloo-based contemporary music and theatre collective.
As a composer, his music juxtaposes the ideas of the familiar and unfamiliar in playful and often humorous ways. Isaac is inspired by the ideas of identity, and his music deals with the concepts of personal and national identity. Also an accomplished arranger in both vocal and instrumental genres, he has arranged for Hawkapella at WLU, the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra, and former Barenaked Ladies singer, Steven Page. Isaac’s catalogue includes choral, orchestral, solo, chamber, theatrical, and operatic works. In 2017, he was recipient of the SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) Young Composer Award for his choral piece “A Mari Usque Ad Mare” [Canada’s motto in Latin: From Sea to Sea].
